Margarette Charles
Margarette Charles is a dually licensed mental health therapist in the state of New Jersey, holding credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC). She has over 10 years of experience working across multiple levels of care, including outpatient, intensive outpatient, and inpatient settings.
Margarette earned a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling and a Master’s degree in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Her clinical experience includes working with individuals facing anxiety disorders, mood disorders, substance misuse and recovery, ADHD, anger management, career challenges, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges.
She specializes in supporting, young adults, students, professionals, couples, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those navigating identity, family expectations, and personal growth. Many of her clients are balancing academic demands, career pressures, relationships, and the feeling of needing to “have it all together.”
Margarette’s approach is compassionate, collaborative, and culturally attuned. She integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Method and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), while maintaining flexibility to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. Sessions may focus on building practical coping tools, improving communication patterns, strengthening emotional regulation, or processing deeper experiences that contribute to distress.
She believes therapy is not about “fixing” someone, but about fostering insight, breaking unhelpful cycles, and creating healthier patterns in relationships and daily life. Her goal is to provide a judgment-free space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward meaningful change.
If you are navigating stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or life transitions in the New Brunswick and surrounding New Jersey areas, Margarette welcomes the opportunity to support you. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but it is also a powerful step toward growth and healing.
